Industrial clay modelling has been in use for over 60 years. Initially, clay modelling was adopted by the automotive industry for its freedom of expression in styling both interior and exterior forms. Today, clay modelling offers clients unlimited development possibilities. It is suited to all products that have a free-flowing, natural and ergonomic feel.

Any product design which is lead by styling is suited to clay modelling.  Examples of these products are:

• Whiteware products such as kettles, irons and toasters
• Sports body kits, sports seats, centre consoles and grills
• Telephones and trendy PC equipment

In using clay models, good accuracy and stability is ensured. Once a clay model is sculpted and the desired form obtained, a resin mould is taken from it. The mould is then reversed to produce a prototype part. Alternatively, the clay model is used as a master reference model, reverse engineered and then the data imported into a CAD system to continue the product development process.
